This weekend my husband asked me a fun question:
“If you had $5 million, how would you spend it?”

Of course I started rattling off a list of things I’d love. But what followed really surprised me - so many of the things on my list didn’t actually require much money at all. I realized so much of what I want is already within reach, if I just shift the way I think about money, time, and what counts as “wealth.”

For example: randomly taking a day off to spend with my daughter. My default thought is, oh, that’s wasting childcare or what if work piles up? But years from now, I won’t remember the to-do list. I’ll remember playing with her in the park or making pancakes together on a weekday morning.

That’s what I’d regret missing out on.

This little thought exercise reminded me of Ramit Sethi’s idea of building a Rich Life, which isn’t about having the biggest house or the flashiest car. It’s about designing a life that feels deeply fulfilling to you, on your terms.

If you’re not familiar with him, he wrote I Will Teach You to Be Rich and has a Netflix show that’s worth watching. Some of his concepts may sound familiar if you grew up in a financially literate household, but he frames them in a refreshingly unique way.

The core of his message is this:

  • Spend extravagantly on what you love.

  • Cut ruthlessly on what you don’t.

  • And get specific. Not “I want to travel more,” but “I want to take two trips a year - one cozy, one adventurous.”

And here’s the best part - you don’t have to wait for a windfall to begin. When you let yourself think freely, you often realize parts of your Rich Life are possible today.

For me, my Rich Life is slow mornings, creative time to write, and quality time with my family. Nothing flashy … but everything that makes life feel full.

So here’s my question for you this week:
👉 What would your Rich (Happy) Life look like?
