When Your Mind Won’t Stop (And Your Body Finally Makes You Listen)

My mind has been going a mile a minute the past few weeks.
Maybe it’s the astrological transits, or maybe it’s just being a new(ish) mom — but everything has felt fast, full, and nonstop.
Some of it was important — things I needed to figure out about childcare, family dynamics, future plans. But a lot of it? Just noise.
Thoughts that wouldn’t quit. Constant scanning:
What could go wrong? How could I get ahead of it? Should I explain it better next time?
Even at night, my brain stayed clocked in.
Everything probably looked fine externally — I was getting things done — but my mind felt full, and my body wired.
I knew something was off, but I was probably in a little denial.
I mean… nothing was technically falling apart. Things were working. I was functioning.
But it wasn’t until I started experiencing it physically that I couldn’t deny it anymore.
I couldn’t fall asleep.
And even when I did, I’d wake up at 1:30 or 3:00 a.m. and just stay up — mind racing.
My stomach felt off.
Headaches settled in above my eyebrows.
Even the normal things that usually helped — journaling, meditating, scrolling for a little escape — stopped working.
That’s when I knew I needed to slow down — not just externally, but internally too.
💡 The Reset
I started small.
🧘🏽♀️ I limited multitasking — focusing on one thing at a time, both mentally and physically.
I used mindfulness to bring myself back to the present — noticing the tactile, grounding things:
the softness of my blanket
the way my rose body oil smelled — floral, comforting, familiar
When my mind jumped from one problem to the next, I gently reminded myself:
“I don’t need to figure everything out right now.”
📱 I treated my phone like candy — okay in tiny doses, but too much made me sick.
I removed overstimulating inputs — no intense opinions, no fast-talking hosts, no shows that made my body tense up.
And slowly, I started coming back to myself.
Not through some perfect routine.
But by choosing what felt gentle in the moment.
Some nights, I stretched just enough to land back in my body.
Other times, I picked up a calm, relaxing book.
I stopped pushing through the exhaustion. I let myself lie down early, even if things were undone.
The world didn’t fall apart.
And gradually, my body began to exhale.
The headaches faded.
My stomach settled.
My thoughts softened.
I felt calm from the inside out.
If you’re in that place right now — full mind, tense body, exhausted heart — maybe your reset doesn’t look like another to-do list or a quick dopamine fix.
Maybe it’s just… slowing down.
→ Put the phone down.
→ Wrap yourself in something soft.
→ Choose the next small thing.
And remember:
